A Journey That Began with Compassion

Divyaroshni Foundation started in 2014 with one person and five children on the streets of Vadodara. Ten years later, it supported around 500 children with the help of more than 100 volunteers.

Our Founder

Keshuben Chauhan

Divyaroshni was started single-handedly by Keshuben Chauhan, a nurse by profession. As a single mother, she faced many challenges in supporting her daughter’s studies. That’s when she realised the problem was widespread and that many other families must be facing it too.

She knew she couldn’t solve all the world’s problems. But she could lend a helping hand to the people and children of Vadodara.

She also adopted and raised nine children, providing for all their needs, including their education, and treating them as members of her own family.

Keshuben trained at Yogini Hospital and has more than 25 years of experience in home deliveries. She has helped with over 5,000 home deliveries, and after each one she cared for the mother and provided healthy food.

How We Work

From street classes to daily care

The foundation started by teaching children on the streets. Today more than 100 volunteers provide services twice a day.

  • Each morning, children receive a healthy breakfast and their daily needs are taken care of.
  • Children receive a good education, and students who do well but face financial difficulty get help with school and tuition fees.
  • Dance, singing, painting, sports and more support each child's all-round development.
  • Festivals are celebrated together with great enthusiasm.

What We Believe

Every child matters, every moment counts

Child rights

Every child has an equal right to live healthily, happily and independently.

Education

Education is key to each person's development and to the country's. It gives children practical knowledge, skills and ways of thinking.

Dignity for women

Supporting widowed women to live with dignity and to have equal rights and opportunities in society.

Care for the earth

Every creature has the right to live freely on the earth. That's why the foundation plants trees and cares for injured birds.
